Why must we shred CCTV hard drives instead of just deleting the footage?
Due to the way DVRs and NVRs write data, deleting footage does not permanently erase it. GDPR mandates irrecoverable destruction for personal data. Only physical shredding of the internal hard drive guarantees this.
Do you shred the entire DVR unit, or just the internal hard drive?
For security and convenience, we recommend shredding the internal drive, which holds the data. We can either remove the drive for shredding or, upon request, destroy the entire DVR/NVR unit.
Can you handle the specialised storage media used in Dash Cams?
Yes. Our shredders are fully equipped to destroy the small, sensitive SD cards and internal memory found in all types of Dash Cams and portable recorders, ensuring all footage is destroyed.
Do you need access to the DVR unit’s data or network connection?
No. Our service is solely focused on physical destruction. We do not access or attempt to read any data on the devices; we simply destroy the physical storage media on-site.
Is the destruction of CCTV footage evidence part of WEEE recycling?
The physical act of destruction is a security service. Afterward, the resulting electronic debris (e-waste) from the DVRs and Dash Cams is responsibly processed through certified WEEE recycling channels.
