Servers and network-attached storage can hold many drives and several generations of business data. We help you plan for the storage inside the equipment as well as the physical hardware being retired.
Map the storage before decommissioning
Record the servers, NAS units and removable drive trays in the batch. RAID arrays, spare drives and backup units are easily overlooked during a room clearance. If your team needs asset or serial numbers in the handover record, tell us before collection and identify any devices that must remain on site.
Disconnecting a server or deleting a volume is not the same as deciding the fate of every drive. We can discuss hard drive destruction, SSD destruction and data erasure according to the storage type and whether reuse is intended.
Plan the physical move
Tell us about rack location, weight, access restrictions, loading arrangements and whether drives will be removed by your staff. The service available for an intact server chassis may differ from that for loose drives. We will confirm the collection and processing plan for your postcode and equipment.
Retiring switches, routers or other network equipment at the same time? Include them in the inventory, especially if configuration data or removable storage is present. We will clarify what can be accepted and how data-bearing components should be handled.
Request a decommissioning discussion
Send your approximate device and drive counts, location and any record or witness requirements. so we can agree the practical next step.
